Our History

Serving the Western New York community with compassionate veterinary care since 1946.

1946

Founded by Dr. L.W. Lindsey

Southtowns Animal Hospital has been proudly serving the Western New York community since 1946. Founded by Dr. L.W. Lindsey as Lindsey Small Animal Hospital, the practice began in a small home that once stood in front of our current location. From the very beginning, Dr. Lindsey emphasized personal, one-on-one care — a value that continues to define us today.

1970s

Dr. Robert Hirt Builds the Hospital

In the 1970s, Dr. Robert Hirt became the second owner and built the original version of the current hospital building. He shared his experiences in the veterinary field through his book, Reflections: The Stories and Life of a Country Vet.

1995

Dr. Theodore Winkle Takes Ownership

The practice was passed to Dr. Theodore Winkle in 1995, continuing the tradition of dedicated, personal veterinary care that had defined the hospital since its founding.

2010

Dr. Kim Jacobi Becomes Owner

In 2010, Dr. Kim Jacobi became the current owner. Under her leadership, the hospital has continued to grow while honoring its legacy of compassionate care.
