About
Southtowns Animal Hospital has been proudly serving the Western New York community since 1946. Founded by Dr. L.W. Lindsey as Lindsey Small Animal Hospital, the practice began in a small home that once stood in front of our current location. From the very beginning, Dr. Lindsey emphasized personal, one-on-one care—a value that continues to define us today.
In the 1970s, Dr. Robert Hirt became the second owner and built the original version of the current hospital building. He shared his experiences in the veterinary field through his book, Reflections: The Stories and Life of a Country Vet.
The practice was passed to Dr. Theodore Winkle in 1995, and then to Dr. Kim Jacobi in 2010, who remains the current owner. Under her leadership, the hospital has continued to grow while honoring its legacy of compassionate care.
In 2017, we achieved accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), meeting rigorous standards in veterinary care, safety, and client service. We proudly renewed our accreditation in 2024, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to excellence.
Today, Southtowns Animal Hospital remains rooted in its original mission:
To evolve and grow our ability to help animals through the advancements of veterinary medicine, communication, and compassion.
